Social protection expenditure on disability by benefits - % of GDP

The data relate to social benefits in the disability function expressed as the percentage of gross domestic product (GDP). Social benefits consist of transfers, in cash or in kind, by social protection schemes to households and individuals to relieve them of the burden of a defined set of risks or needs. The disability function covers income maintenance and support in cash or kind (except health care) in connection with the inability of persons with physical or mental disabilities to engage in economic and social activities. The data source is the European system of integrated social protection statistics (ESSPROS).
